Synopsis

In Vivid Detail is an unusual love story that follows Justin, an architect who suffers from Prosopagnosia — a neurological disorder that makes him incapable of recognizing faces. Justin and Leslie must decide whether their new relationship can overcome the obstacles ahead of them as they try to cope with this bizarre but real condition, meanwhile raising the question: How is beauty measured?

In Vivid Detail premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival to 900 people at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center. It continued to be sold out for its five subsequent screenings. It also won the grand jury prize at the PictureStart Film Festival in addition to the audience award and four additional awards. It has also screened at Palm Springs International Film Festival.

About the Director

Originally from Montreal, Dara is a member of the Director’s Guild of Canada and has worked on a number of films as an assistant director. She left Canada to return to school and has recently completed her MFA degree in film from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University, with distinction.

During her studies, she received an internship from the Academy of Motion Pictures and Arts & Sciences for her documentary. She was also awarded the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation production grant for the incorporation of science in her thesis film, In Vivid Detail.

Dara wrote and directed a number of short films including the short documentary, Hello, Pickles? a comedy drama about the gentrification of the Lower East Side in New York. This short was officially selected to a variety of festivals, including winning third place in the FirstGlance Hollywood Film Festival. Her short documentary on New York’s music festival, Amsterjam, will be airing on the IFC this year.

She also recently completed a feature documentary, which she directed and produced on Canada’s most controversial historical figure: Dr. Morgentaler, an abortionist who challenged and revolutionized Canadian law. Fiscally sponsored by the International Documentary Association in LA, henry premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
